Create your own zine with 8 pages, printed on just a single sheet of paper!
Or 16 pages, printed on 2 sheets of paper!
We make so many photographs. It would be a shame to let them sit forgotten on our hard drives.
Don’t overthink it. Pick a handful of images and turn them into a zine.
It doesn’t have to be a definitive selection. This isn’t a book or a magazine. It’s just a way to get your photographs out into the world.
Print it, fold it, share it offline. Trade it with a friend, leave it somewhere unexpected, or simply pass it on.
When Domino Film Photo invited me to collaborate and share this idea, I was thrilled. They’re such an inspiration to me, so I’m really happy to have the opportunity to give something back to the community.
I want to show you how to easily make a 16-page zine using just two sheets of paper.
For this project, we’re using 140 gsm double-sided matte photo paper. The prints look great on both sides, with no ink showing through.
But there’s another big advantage: you can send your zine as a regular letter, saving a lot on shipping costs.
This makes it much easier and more affordable to share our work with others, which feels like the perfect solution!
Step 1
Print 4 photos on each side. This results in 8 photos per sheet. And 16 in total.
Step 2
Cut each sheet. This results in 2 strips per sheet. And 4 in total.
Step 3
Fold each strip in half.
And slide them together in the order you prefer.
Step 4
Staple them in the middle.
You can still trim the pages a bit to neaten them up if they aren't perfectly aligned.
Finished
Your zine is ready, make sure to share it!
I've developed a number of tools to simplify my own printing of small zines.
And I'm happy to share them as well to encourage you to make, create, print, and share offline!
You can run the tools directly from my website OnePageZine.com.
No data is stored or tracked; everything happens in your browser.
You can also download the HTML file to run it totally offline (locally in your browser) from my github.
Please note -
I'm a strong advocate of freely sharing and exchanging work.
So this is not a commercial product! And I give no guarantees and I'm not responsible for the content you create and distribute through the use of these tools!
Every now and then, for fun and upon request, I'm happy to do a workshop where I share my way of working: a day spent shooting, making selections, printing, and sharing the results.
