Process Photowalk Hosted by Wesley Verhoeve and Wrong Side of the Lens
2023, November 05
Very happy I could be in this very first Process Photo Walk from Wesley Verhoeve.
Followed by the first European screening of Wrong Side of the Lens and an in-person Q&A with director Josh Ethan Johnson.
This was hosted by Glass. Glass is a paid global photography community. No ads or algorithms, just kind photographers learning together.
The agenda from today:
1:00 pm: Meet at Amsterdam Dam in front of the Palace
1:15 pm: Departure (please be on time)
3:30 pm: Arrival at movie theatre LAB 111
4:00 pm: Screening (doors will close once it starts)
5:30 pm: Q&A with director Josh
6:00 pm: The end
Once the whole group was together, we went through the city like snail slime but then with 50+ street photographers.
Behind the palace, across the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and via the Keizersgracht towards the 9 straatjes.
Occasionally a heavy rain shower, some shelter, but then on again.
We crossed the Marnistraat towards the Vondelpark.
We had a drink at Proeflokaal 't Blauwe Theehuis before we continued our route to Lab111.
After some more drinks we watched a great compilation of Josh's WSOTL.
I've enjoyed talking with a lot of other streetphotographers.
And after the movie I realised I need to go back to drawing board. And make sure to make what I really want to make.
A good point I heard was (from Richard Sandler) - “the picture need to give you more questions then answers”. I couldn't get that out of my head anymore.
But also it's not all science just make the picture.
It was great to meet Wesley Verhoeve and Josh Ethan Johnson in person.
Many thanks for doing this!

Some of my shots from today
I talked more than I shot, but that's okay. Tomorrow I'm back on the street again to get in my zone.
